Mission Statement
No child should lose their life to a genetic heart condition. No parent should live with the heartbreak that something could have been done to save their child's life Max's Foundation funds early years cardiomyopathy research focused on improving detection, diagnosis and treatments and supports those affected by these conditions. Our hearts are set on change.
About This Cause
Max's Foundation is a legacy to 10 year old Max Schiller, who passed away suddenly from an undetected genetic heart condition known as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in 2015. Since its inception in 2016, the charity has partnered with the Centre for Inherited Cardiovascular Diseases at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) to fund vital research roles and the provision of life-saving monitoring equipment. Headed by Dr Juan Pablo Kaski, a consultant paediatric cardiologist (and the charity's ambassador), the centre is the largest in the UK dedicated to the evaluation and management of the full range of inherited cardiac conditions in children. The Centre is credited with the development of the first-ever tool to identify children at risk of sudden death from cardiomyopathy. Max’s Foundation was credited in the research publication and subsequent articles as a contributing organisation. The charity has also funded a Youth Manager for Cardiomyopathy UK to support young people living with cardiomyopathy empowering them to know more and live well with their condition. Max's Foundation is an entirely voluntary-run organisation. Every penny raised goes towards supporting our nominated life changing projects.
