Mission Statement
The aim of Dad's House is to make sure children remain the priority after divorce, separation or bereavement. We will help all Dads in need but can not assist anyone that has been charged with any physical/verbal abuse of their children/partner. There are many ways in which we help dads and families, including offering emotional support, combating loneliness and isolation by being available to chat with Dads on the phone or in-person at our drop-in centre, breakfast clubs, law clinics, food banks and accommodation/housing. Our goal is to have drop-in centres around the UK run by Dads. Whilst we are helping Dads with the consequences that arise, our long term aim is to tackle the cause through research, raising awareness and legal reform. We believe it's not about the mother's right or the father's right but the child's right to be cared for and raised by both their parents equally. Dads House facility in Elephant and Castle, London SE1 6TE is a safe haven for children and their dads to meet up. Any form of violence, arguments, discrimination or racism will not be tolerated. Any person found to be violating the house rules will be asked to leave, plus refused entry back into Dads House. Dad's House currently runs and 2 food banks, supporting vulnerable families during the pandemic.
About This Cause
Dads House was set up in 2008 by William McGranaghan (Billy to his friends) to help single dads with the practicalities of raising their children alone. It was Billy's dream to create a charity that could offer the support needed by single dads so he set up Dads House. Since Dads House launched in 2008, our reputation has grown within many organisations. Today many local authorities and the UK Government often contact Dads House to help with various topics. Our 5 year plan going forward is to have Dads House branches across the UK, enabling us to help and support as many single fathers as possible. Walk ins are welcome at our offices. If parents need support and advice, come along to Dads House and spend some time with other dads. Our main offices are located at Unit 239, Elephant and Castle shopping centre, London SE1 6TE. We offer a breakfast club, legal advice, a book club for kids, football, cooking classes or just a chat when you need it. We also have a community food bank for dads, mums and families who need practical support. Breakfast Club The ever popular Breakfast Club is in Chelsea at The World's End Under 5s Centre, 18 Blantyre Street, Chelsea, SW10 ODS (map) from 9am to 11am every Saturday morning from the 15th Of February 2020. In Partnership with Caritas Westminister. Buddy Service Dads House has introduced a Buddy Service. From our experience there is very little information on the practicalities of being a dad and how to deal with children. We know how important it is to have someone to talk to about your concerns so we've set up a Buddy Service. The Buddy service is very informal and low key where you can have a coffee and a chat at any time. Dads House Food Banks From Monday 30th March 2020, Dads House foodbank will be open to help anyone that needs a helping hand during the difficult times ahead. We will deliver to Residents in Kensington and Chelsea and Hammersmith and Fulham. We are looking for volunteers with cars to help deliver fresh food items to residents and also donations of none perishble food.
