Mission Statement

Our mission is to make sure that all animals have a good life, by rescuing and caring for those in need, by speaking on behalf of all animals and by inspiring everyone to treat them with compassion and respect.

About This Cause

We are a self-funding, independently registered branch of the RSPCA, dedicated to supporting animal welfare in our local community. Since our founding in 1962, we have been committed to preventing cruelty, promoting kindness, and rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need within our branch area. As a separately registered charity, we raise funds locally to carry out our essential work. Our operations are run by a passionate committee of volunteers, and we rely on the generosity of donations, legacies, fundraising activities, and profits from our two charity shops to fund our efforts. At our branch, we assist local animals in a variety of ways. While our network of dedicated foster homes provides the majority of care, we also collaborate with neighbouring branches to secure boarding space for animals unable to go directly into foster care. Additionally, we run two financial assistance schemes to support local pet owners with veterinary costs and contribute to the care of wildlife rescued by our inspectors.
