Mission Statement
Millions of older people endure significant challenges every day. Independent Age enables older people to stay independent and live well with dignity, choice and purpose.
About This Cause
There are 13 million people over the age of 65 in the UK today. Sadly, millions of these older people experience significant challenges on a daily basis. We know 1.5 million people over the age of 65 in England live with at least one unmet care need, 2 million older people across the UK live below the poverty line, and 1.2 million say they are always or often lonely. Too many experience ageism. With a rapidly ageing population, this is a situation that is set to get worse. Therefore, Independent Age’s vision is the society where older people can live their best lives. Our work concentrates on four area: health and care, loneliness and poverty, by focusing our efforts in these areas we believe we can deliver maximum impact. We deliver frontline support across the UK to 1.6 million people through our dedicated national helpline, our network of committed volunteers, and our award winning information guides. We want a society where older people live the lives they choose and actively contribute to their communities. Charities like Independent Age have never been needed more, and we can't do our work without the support of partners and individuals like you.
