Mission Statement
To promote mental health resilience for the benefit of the individual and our wider communities, and to contribute to and inform local, regional, and national community based mental health policy and practice. We are a non-political organisation focused on promoting good mental health and supporting recovery for individuals within their local area. We seek to encourage positive attitudes to mental health in the communities we serve. Working with others, at all levels, we are eager to learn and to participate in the development and sharing of best practice.
About This Cause
Networks of Wellbeing Ltd (NoW) is a long-standing, person-centred, community-based Charity with 30 years of experience in working in mental-health and wellbeing. We have grown and evolved to become an organisation which provides a range of positive mental-health and wellbeing support, services and activities for people aged 11 and over and who live and work within the NHS Grampian area. NoW embraces the principle that continued wellbeing means that personal health is influenced by experiencing balance and meaning across a range of areas of life, (physical, social, emotional, employment, housing, identity and self-esteem) as well as being, and feeling, actively connected to and engaged with the community in which they live and work. Although our focus is on people with mild to moderate levels of poor mental-health, we are increasingly required to provide support for people experiencing moments of acute crisis, including those who are: having suicidal thoughts; extremely distressed and experiencing episodes of stress, anxiety and panic attacks; or those experiencing social isolation and loneliness. Services, such as GP Practices, Social Work teams, substance misuse teams, local schools, and other groups and organisations, signpost people to NoW as a pathway through a recovery journey. We are advised by GPs, Health Visitors, Occupational Therapists and District Nurses that there is a very real need for our services in the rural communities in the area. Over the next few years NoW will be developing our service to include outreach work in more rural communities - which very often lack access to public transport. We will do this alongside other groups and organisations as we work with the communities to design services that best meet their needs.
