VALUE Acadia Center responds to the challenge of climate change by crafting and promoting policies, based on sound research-backed approaches, that will go furthest to create a clean and consumer-friendly energy system for people in the Northeast and beyond. VISION An energy system that is modern, equitable, low-carbon, and viable as a consumer friendly framework that can be replicated across the country and beyond. WHAT THIS VISION MEANS Mitigating the climate change effects that would cripple state economies and exacerbate inequalities in the Northeast. A regional economy that is vibrant, stable, embraces exciting clean energy technologies, and transitions away from reliance on fossil fuels. State governments that embrace and support the full potential of clean energy technologies. A clean energy economy that will improve public health, benefit all consumers, provide safer, more livable buildings and offer greater mobility choices for all residents. PURPOSE To assess complex problems, identify clear recommendations for large scale reforms, increase public education and awareness of viable solutions, and advocate with decision makers to create a low-carbon economy that benefits people in the Northeast and beyond. PEOPLE Acadia Center’s staff members are respected experts in economics, policy, and law. They combine passion for public service with diligence and professional ability, making them uniquely effective agents for progress and change. Board of Directors: The Board of Directors includes a diverse group of innovators, advocates and educators with professional experience ranging from law to banking to engineering. The Directors are committed to supporting Acadia Center as a responsible organization and an effective agent of change. Staff: The staff is a high-caliber team of economists, attorneys and environmental scientists. They are committed and experienced, and they have strong ties to the region and to colleagues across the fields of environment, analysis and advocacy. In 2008, the American Council for an Energy Efficient Economy (ACEEE) awarded one of its four Champion of Efficiency Awards to Acadia Center for demonstrating leadership and accomplishment in the energy efficiency field. Acadia Center is also pleased to be included on Charity Navigator's list of "Top Ten Charities to Watch" and to have earned the site's 4-star rating for effectiveness in using revenue for program purposes. Acadia Center is a member of EarthShare, a federation of the nation's finest environmental and conservation organizations.
