About This Cause
Titus Single Parent Mentoring is a 15-year old community based charitable 501c3 educational STEAM program located in Los Angeles County. The purpose of Titus is to end generational poverty in inner-city families, build generational wealth, and socially healthy families through affordable mentoring and technical programs. We provide mentoring, support programs, college readiness, and year-round STEAM programs to families. Where single parent households exist, it is our goal to bridge gaps of differences between parents to ensure that their focus is on the wholeness, safety, and well-being of their children; healthy co-parenting is key to a child's success! Each summer we partner with over 50 STEAM summer camps to ensure that students in low-income and single parent households are given the opportunity to attend STEAM programs at little or no cost. Students returning to the classroom in the Fall after spending a summer in STEAM enrichment programs increase their GPA score and are ready to advance to their next grade. Our program is funded by individual and company donations. Scholarships for summer camps are funded by parent memberships and our annual Scholarship Dinner and Fundraiser provides funds for scholarships for graduating high school students. Our internal annual workshops topics are as follows: • Financial Literacy (FASFA, Scholarships) . Robotics . Build a computer from scratch . Etiquette (Social/Dining) . Architects & Design • Family Budgeting and Preparing for College • What is STEAM and its Importance (Introduction to our STEAM program) • Graphic Design and Photography • Stress and the Single Parent/ Effective co-parenting Each student is given the opportunity to apply for summer camp and college scholarship funding after successfully completing our workshops. Through the support of grants and donations, Titus Single Parents Mentoring receives funding for single parents and their children to attend workshops, camps, and other character-building events at an affordable rate and oftentimes at no cost. Funding serves to open the door for children in low-income households to attend specialty STEAM summer camps and receive college scholarships. 100% of our students have graduated from high school and attended college.
