About This Cause
For over 70 years, Midcoast Humane has been providing animal welfare services to midcoast Maine. We provide high-demand programs to rural and underserved communities with unmet basic animal welfare needs. Our programs keep pets in homes, prevent surrenders to our shelter, and keep homeless animals off the streets. Midcoast Humane’s programs enrich the lives of pets and people alike. We work to ensure pets' long-term health and wellbeing, and we incorporate humane education throughout all of our programs. With a territory of 1,000 square miles, many local surrendered and stray pets come to Midcoast Humane with a history of neglect and abuse, requiring a substantial investment of resources to place them into new adoptive homes. We care for every paw that walks through our doors until they find their permanent home, providing enrichment, comfort, medical care, and love.
