Mission Statement
Prescott Park Arts Festival inspires and connects our community through high quality arts and education, ensuring access for all and enriching lives across generations.
About This Cause
Prescott Park Arts Festival (PPAF) is an anchor arts organization in the Seacoast of New Hampshire that, in 2024, celebrated its 50th anniversary of presenting a 10-week summer season of inspiring, family-friendly arts programming. Regular events include a summer-long musical theatre production with 25+ performances, a concert series featuring ~25 national touring acts as well as local and regional talent, and a movie night series featuring 8 films. Themed music festivals, dance, and children’s events are held throughout the summer as well. In order to reduce barriers for access to high quality arts, since its inception in 1974, PPAF has used a recommended donation model. We can proudly say that no one has ever been turned away regardless of ability to make a donation at the gate. A strong economic engine for the region, PPAF’s 150,000+ annual audience members inject $5.1M into the local economy by filling downtown businesses and restaurants before and after performances. Because of the completely accessible entry, many people have their first experience with a live performance at Prescott Park Arts Festival, including many of our Camp ENCORE! campers. Festival programs include: Musical Theatre – The Festival’s signature event, its annual family-friendly musical production is presented 4 nights/week for 8 weeks of the summer season. Concert Series – Multiple nights per week throughout the summer season, the PPAF stage is graced by artists from a wide range of musical genres and representing an intentional combination of world-class and Grammy Award-winning musicians as well as up-and-coming performers. Movie Series – PPAF presents family-friendly movie classics under the stars bringing the fun of summer nights and outdoor movie screens to a new generation of viewers throughout the season. Camp ENCORE! – Please see complete description below Food Festivals – Through collaborations with many local organizations and businesses, PPAF’s food festivals include our annual Chowder and Brew Festivals highlighting local restaurants, breweries, and industry to nearly 2,000 residents and visitors per event. Community Showcase – Through its Community Showcase program, the Festival invites and encourages local organizations - e.g. PMAC, Extreme Air, Portsmouth School of Ballet, Sole City, Stranger Than Fiction Improv, Southern NH Ukulele Group, the Seacoast Civic Dance Company - to present programming on the main stage, providing them with exposure and professional performance opportunities. We have recently partnered with Safe Haven Ballet by bringing one of their full productions to the main stage for two performances as a part of our summer season. Safe Haven Ballet is a Trauma Informed 501(c)(3) non profit professional touring ballet company and school. Safe Haven is known for offering weekly free Trauma Sensitive ballet, yoga, pilates, cupcake decorating and paint night classes for survivors of sexual violence and trauma as well as producing touring uplifting productions. Fairy House Tour – In partnership with the Friends of the South End, thousands of young people explore their imaginations and creativity by constructing and displaying fairy houses. Josie’s Family Jams - The Festival’s 50th anniversary season in 2024 saw the introduction of this new family-focused series which brings music and theatre specifically geared towards kids and their families to the main stage.
