Mission Statement
The mission of the Burlington City Arts Foundation is to support the activities of Burlington City Arts (BCA, a municipal agency of the City of Burlington) and the region's cultural community with a focus on assuring the resources required by BCA to fulfill its mission. Burlington City Arts’ mission is to enhance a dynamic environment through the arts that makes quality experiences accessible to all regardless of economic, social or physical constraints.
About This Cause
The Burlington City Arts Foundation (BCAF) was created in 1998 to support the fundraising efforts of Burlington City Arts, a municipal agency (BCA) when it entered its first capital campaign to renovate the historic Ethan Allen Firehouse into a 5 floor arts center. Since the completion of the arts center in 2004 (BCA Center), the BCAF has continued to fundraise through donations and grants to support the operations of BCA and other special projects that help achieve the mission of BCA. BCA achieves its mission by: Cultivating community connections By encouraging multi-generational learning opportunities for more than 12,000 students all ages in our studios, our galleries, in schools, and in pre-school programs By building a robust scholarship program that puts learning through the arts in everyone’s reach, regardless of socio-economic constraints Contributing to the health of our community By helping more than 6,000 patients a year heal with Art from the Heart, a program that brings volunteers to create with patients and healthcare providers at the UVM Medical Center By reducing the stress of hospitalization for patients and families by presenting local art work in waiting rooms and public places at the UVM Medical Center Inspiring residents and visitors By presenting exhibitions like Crystal Wagner’s Traverse, a colorful outdoor/indoor installation that attracted over 39,000 visitors to the BCA galleries last summer By producing the Festival of Fools, which brings big crowds, big laughs and international and local performers to the streets of Burlington each summer By ensuring that New Year’s Eve continues to be a day of community celebration through the newly launched Highlight, debuting on December 31, 2018.
