Boys and Girls Club of Walker County's mission is to inspire and enable all young people, especially those who need us most, to reach their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.
About This Cause
Boys and Girls Club of Walker County a non-profit youth organization which adheres to this philosophy and will continue to be of the upmost importance for the staff and volunteers who help make the organization a success. This philosophy is as follows: THE PROGRAMS OF THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF WALKER COUNTY WILL . . . • assure and enhance the quality of life for young people ages 5-18 as participating members of a richly diverse society. • help each young person develop life skills. • help each young person realize their potential for growth and development. • assist in the development of social skills for each member. • develop self-identity and self-esteem in the youth we serve. • develop a sense of usefulness in the youth we serve. • develop a sense of belonging in the youth we serve. • develop a sense of competency in the youth we serve. • develop leadership skills in the youth we serve. THE BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF WALKER COUNTY WILL ACHIEVE ITS PHILOSOPHY THROUGH THE FOLLOWING METHODS: • by encouraging members to use their own individual talents and initiative. • by encouraging members to voluntarily serve others. • by encouraging youth to stay in school and also to participate in extra-curricular activities. • with programs designed to complement home, church, and school. • with programs designed to help deal with conflict resolution. • with programs based on membership and community involvement. • with programs designed to help youth develop learning and studying skills and encourage and assist youth to attend college, vocational, or trade school. • with programs providing for participation and competition at the members’ level so they can realize their potential. • with programs designed to educate youth about drug awareness and teen pregnancy. • by providing relevant, every day, varied and diversified, individual and group experiences. • by providing fun activities. • by providing programs that help youth understand, appreciate, and respect people of all cultures and ethnicity.
