Mission Statement

A non-profit medical research foundation working to accelerate the availability of myelin repair treatments for multiple sclerosis (MS) patients.

About This Cause

The Myelin Repair Foundation (MRF) is a Silicon Valley-based nonprofit research organization accelerating the development of therapeutics that repair myelin, the protective sheath surrounding nerves that is damaged in people with multiple sclerosis. The Foundation’s Accelerated Research Collaboration™ model brought attention to myelin repair such that myelin repair is now considered the next generation of treatments for MS. Because of MRF there is now broad support for basic research into myelin repair and many pharmaceutical companies are now investing in myelin repair drug development programs. Because of MRF's accomplishments to date, we narrowed our focus to the identification of biomarkers that indicate whether a compound truly promotes myelin repair. Such biomarkers will greatly aid basic research, drug discovery, drug development as well as clinical trials. MRF's Mission: To accelerate the discovery of myelin repair treatments to improve the lives of people suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS), and to establish the Accelerated Research Collaboration™ (ARC™) model as a new paradigm for medical research. MRF’s Accelerated Research Collaboration model — bringing best-business practices to the world of academic research — is cutting the time to drug discovery in as much as one-half.
