Mission Statement
Family Services of the Merrimack Valley is a non-profit social service organization committed to helping children and families build a better life through the development of inner strengths, learning life skills, and connecting to vital community-based resources. Our mission is to empower, nurture and support children and families through life’s challenges to help them reach their full potential. This mission is embodied in nearly 20 programs that educate, counsel, mentor, and provide support to children, individuals and families. Family Services serves the entire Merrimack Valley region and seeks to meet the ever evolving needs of the communities it serves through innovative, culturally competent and accessible services in the three core areas of youth development, parent education, and emotional health.
About This Cause
Family Services’ programs fall within the three core areas of Youth Development, Parent Education and Emotional Health. Our programs help improve the quality of life of individuals and families we serve and thereby boost the overall health and vitality of the community. Youth Development programs include Big Friends Little Friends, Stand & Deliver, ESTEEM and CASA and support 400 at-risk, low income youth each year. Parent Education programs serve 350 individuals and couples per year and provide experienced professional to help parents and caregivers gain the knowledge and skills they need to create a stronger, healthier family unit. Services include the Family and Community Resource Center and curriculum-based parent education programs. Emotional Health programs include the Samaritans of Merrimack Valley, which provides outreach and suicide prevention education to over 500 First Responders, educators and social service workers each year. Family Services is fortunate to also oversee several self-sustaining programs, including a Counseling Center, Therapeutic Mentoring and an Employee Assistance Program.
