Mission Statement

Interfaith Social Services provides South Shore residents with the resources necessary to support a healthy and fulfilling life. Our unique team of clinicians staff and volunteers deliver compassionate programs focused on alleviating hunger, providing mental health counseling and emergency financial assistance to community members in need.

About This Cause

Interfaith's key programs include: 1) Pantry Shelf, one of the largest emergency food programs in Greater Boston, distributing over 500,000 meals to South Shore residents in need every year; 2) HomeSafe, an emergency financial assistance program helping to prevent homelessness for hundreds of local individuals each year; 3) New Directions Counseling Center, delivering over 2,500 counseling sessions each year to clients with no place else to turn for help; 4) Career Closet, giving free professional clothing to low-income job seekers; and 5) Bureau Drawer Thrift Shop, providing funds through sales to support our other programs and entirely operated by volunteers. Interfaith’s paramount accomplishment is our record of service to more than 31,000 South Shore residents annually as well as our longstanding service to the community. We recently celebrated our 70th anniversary. Our programs are sustained by an army of volunteers and corporate/civic partners from all sectors of our community. Last year volunteers contributed over 23,000 hours serving their neighbors in need through our five key programs.
