Mission Statement

The mission of Junior Achievement (JA) is to inspire and prepare young people to succeed in a global economy. JA engages students in Grades K-12 in financial literacy, workforce readiness and entrepreneurship education delivered by trained business and community volunteers. At no cost to schools, JA programs fill an important, educational gap for students by providing real-life content not typically taught in an academic classroom. JA students learn about money, budgeting, how the economy works, soft skills, running a business, and so much more! JA-trained volunteers form the core of our program-delivery model and add great value to student-learning. In addition to course content, these caring individuals share personal, real-life experiences that inspire students to dream big and reach their potential. Our volunteers often say “I wish I'd had JA when I was younger!” Junior Achievement of Northern New England (JANNE) operates in nine Massachusetts counties and the entire state of New Hampshire.

About This Cause

JA is the world’s largest organization dedicated to giving young people the knowledge and skills they need to make smart academic and economic choices and plan for their future. Our vision is for every young person to graduate from high school empowered to own their economic success. What do students need to succeed? They need an academic education, and they must have a life-skills education that prepares them for college, work, and adult responsibilities in this 21st century world. Independent studies show JA programs have impact: -88% of JA alumni report they are confident in their ability to manage their personal finances effectively compared to 71% of those who did not have the benefit of a JA experience; -92% of JA alumni say they are confident they can compete successfully in a business environment – twice the rate (46%) of those who did not participate in JA; -76% of JA alumni reported confidence in starting their own business, compared to 41% of those who did not have JA programs. When you invest in JA, you are investing in the future. You are making a positive, direct, and meaningful impact on a young person. Thank you for your support!
