Mission Statement

The mission of the Butler Extended Day Program, Inc. is to provide high quality before and after school care programs for children at the Daniel Butler elementary school in Belmont, Massachusetts. BEDP serves children in kindergarten through 4th grade and strives to create a nurturing and enriching out-of-school environment for all children who are enrolled. About This Cause

The Butler Extended Day Program, Inc. (BEDP) is licensed to operate a school-age childcare program by the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care. BEDP is a 501(c)(3) corporation with a volunteer board of directors made up of current and past program parents and a paid staff. It is registered with the Massachusetts Attorney General's non-profit organizations/public charities division. BEDP rents space in the Daniel Butler school under terms and conditions set forth in a contract with the Belmont Public Schools. The program follows the Belmont Public Schools calendar and operates days that school is in session. BEDP does not operate a summer camp and is closed in July and August. The program charges monthly tuition and has limited financial aid available for families in the form of partial tuition waivers. BEDP accepts state childcare vouchers. All families whose children attend the Butler School may enroll their children in before and/or after school care on a set schedule, subject to the limits of the program's licensed daily capacity. Full time (5 days per week) and part time (2 or 3 days per week) options are available in both the before and the after school program.
