About This Cause

ARTARIA STRING QUARTET: "Minnesota's finest performing and teaching quartet" - Pioneer Press The Artaria String Quartet, now in its fourth decade, presents a double series of programs throughout the concert season in Sundin Music Hall at Hamline University in St. Paul and Antonello Hall at MacPhail Center for Music in Minneapolis, performing classical and contemporary works with extraordinary guest artists. Additionally, Artaria has created opportunities for students of all ages to experience chamber music through: * The Artaria Chamber Music School - a weekly chamber music coaching program serving a diversity of young string players from the Twin Cities and beyond. * Stringwood - a collaborative three-week summer camp and chamber music festival, featuring the nation's top performers and educators, held at the Eagle Bluff Environmental Learning Center in Lanesboro, MN. * The Saint Paul String Quartet Competition, an annual national event that fosters excellence and friendship among America’s most prepared young string quartets. “The Artaria Quartet is likely to give eloquent voice to whatever work it tackles.” -Rob Hubbard of the St. Paul Pioneer Press "Dear Artaria, thank you for your constant support of me. Without you, ACMS, and especially Stringwood, I would not have found my passion. I cannot thank you enough for all you have given and taught me." -Alum '06-'09, professional violinist “Thank you, Artaria. Upon asking how Stringwood was my student exclaimed, “Awesome!”. Thank you all for giving her such a wonderful experience.” –Roger Frisch, Associate Concertmaster, Minnesota Orchestra "We love donating to your quartet competition and school because we really believe in your commitment to promoting classical music to young people. It made a world of difference to our son and daughter." -Perry and Jim Leger The Artaria String Quartet considers its music-making as a conversation among equals. Each voice in Artaria is heard and respected and the remarkable music we study and perform guides us through the greatest thoughts and emotions humanity can express. Our greatest joy as curators of this great medium of string playing has been to see students in our coaching programs grow into the awareness that they are part of something greater than themselves.
