Mission Statement

The Lancaster Land Trust is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 1997 . Its purposes are to assist in and promote the preservation of the rural character of the Town of Lancaster in order to permanently preserve and maintain areas for conservation of public water resources, animal and plant life, areas of historical significance or natural beauty, areas for outdoor education and areas for public recreation and enjoyment.

About This Cause

The LLT is focused on land in the Town of Lancaster and abutting towns, but seeks to preserve land for enjoyment by all. To this end the LLT has acquired almost 97 acres of land through gifts and grants and protected almost 24 acres with a conservation restriction. The most common users of the protected lands are hikers, horseback riders, cross-country skiers, snowmobilers and hunters. The LLT is strictly a volunteer organization with no paid staff and a project based budgeting process. There are approximately 55 dues paying members. The Trust partners actively with the Town of Lancaster, the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the United States Government and the Nashua River Watershed Association.
