Mission Statement

The mission of Emily's Place is to break the cycle of domestic violence for women and their children through long-term transformational care that seeks to restore faith, hope and health. Emily's Place provides a unique supportive community of care for up to 24 months in which women and their children have the time and supports that they need to attain housing and financial stability. It is the bridge between emergency housing/homelessness to independence and adversity to opportunity.

About This Cause

Emily’s Place fulfills its mission by equipping, empowering and resourcing victims of domestic violence. While every client’s plan is personalized to their circumstances and needs, programs and services at Emily’s Place address the need for trauma-informed counseling, case management, transportation, childcare, advocacy, and financial and workforce education for victims of domestic violence. This program includes: • Trauma Informed Counseling: Individual, family and group counseling environments. • Case Management: Emily’s Place helps new clients achieve stabilization by connecting them to immediate needs including food, safety, and childcare, assists clients in applying for ongoing community resources and benefits, and monitors ongoing progress toward goals for their individualized plan. • Economic Empowerment: Emily’s Place provides case management and education to build clients’ financial literacy and workforce readiness skills, from budgeting and building credit to computer literacy and resume creation, including individual case management and group classes. • New Program and Resource Center: Emily’s Place offers access to computers for job research, resume creation, and technology education; access to work and education resources and opportunities; optional programming classes such as parenting, self-defense, and healthy conflict resolution. • Transportation: Emily’s Place provides transportation for childcare, school, work, medical appointments, counseling, legal appointments and access to community resources. As transportation is a significant barrier for permanently leaving an abuser, staff work with clients to secure driver’s licenses or to reinstate licenses. Staff and volunteers facilitate classes on car care and maintenance, transportation budgeting and other necessary information for clients to make informed decisions for their personal transportation needs. • Childcare Program: Emily’s Place covers all childcare and camp costs. Free childcare continues for each family until leaving Emily’s Place or successfully attaining state daycare assistance. • Victim’s Advocacy and Resources: Clients learn about options and resources and receive assistance with completing victim’s compensation applications. Police, prosecutors, and attorneys facilitate sessions on legal procedures and dispelling myths. Emily’s Place also partners to provide legal counsel is provided at no cost to clients.
