Mission Statement
The Giving Heart provides food, fellowship and essential items to those in the Greater Richmond Metropolitan Area.
About This Cause
Since 2005, the Giving Heart has been an all-volunteer 501c3 organization that currently runs two programs solely; however, it also provides hands-on volunteer outreach services to other non-profits upon requests: The Community Thanksgiving Feast is a free event for ALL, with special emphasis on inviting the elderly, homeless, working families, and veterans. In 2023, we prepared meals for 5000 people through walk-in, curbside, and home deliveries. Due to the homeless crisis within our focused outreach areas, we anticipate the need will increase again this year. Our Secret Senior Valentine Program creates bags for independently living seniors and disabled people. This program currently distributes over 1,000 bags on Valentine's Day from Ashland to New Kent, Powhatan to Prince George, and Richmond, Chesterfield, Hanover, Goochland, and Henrico. Our community outreach has also included volunteering by lending a helping hand to other non-profit organizations during other opportunities throughout the year where feeding, fellowshipping, and providing essentials are also the focus of their services, with specific outreach initiatives in the previously mentioned areas.
