About This Cause
Pathways’ mission is to provide housing, education, health services and other support for adults with severe and prolonged mental illness to further recovery, growth and more meaningful lives. Pathways is the story of hope for those who struggle daily with a severe mental illness. The organization was founded in 1981 by Greenwich families in response to the needs of relatives and others who were discharged from psychiatric hospitals following long periods of institutionalization, often leaving them homeless or living in substandard dwellings. Today, Pathways manages four residences housing a total of 38 clients, with varying levels of support as well as a day club that serves over 75 clients. Each client works with a case manager and psychologist and follows a person-centered goal plan. Pathways’ core values of service, compassion and responsibility fuel its efforts to make a lasting impact on those suffering with mental illness. After arriving at Pathways, our clients have across-the-board improvement in well-being, including dramatic drops in crises and hospitalizations
