Mission Statement
The Klein is a 1,447-seat performing arts center serving the greater Bridgeport region. It's mission is to "Enrich, educate, and entertain through arts and ideas".
About This Cause
The Klein's impact to our community is reflected in the diversity of programs and events we present each year, in addition to our providing a tuition-free arts education program for Bridgeport middle and high school students. The Klein hosts many concerts, plays, dance recitals and civic ceremonies throughout each year. It also operates Klein Theatre Arts, an after school arts education program offered to Bridgeport students in middle and high school. Students receive instruction in acting & public speaking, dance, video production & editing, and singing, all taught by professionals in those fields. The program also offers a course in technical production taught by members of IATSE, where students learn the basics of stage lighting, audio and set construction. Once completing that course, students can apply to our intern program, where they are paid to work alongside our union stagehands at major Klein events. The Klein is home to 6 resident companies: Greater Bridgeport Symphony, Gateway Classical Music Society (opera), Greater Connecticut Youth Orchestras, Fairfield County Children's Choir, ConnectUs (a youth development organization), and Klein Theatre Arts.
