Mission Statement

Radiohole is a collective of artists that has been creating original devised performance works since 1998. We work together in a horizontal collaboration, collectively writing scripts, developing complex stage designs, and finding unusual and surprising applications of technology. We perform our pieces together, with the performers controlling all technical aspects themselves from the stage. Our group ethos energizes our work and creates visceral, playful shows that challenge the audience’s expectations. Radiohole has created 17 original full-length shows and numerous short pieces, establishing itself as one of New York's premier experimental ensembles, described by The Drama Review as "the quintessential American performance group." Radiohole is also committed to supporting and presenting innovative new works by other artists in the community by sharing our home venue, the Obie Award-winning space, The Collapsable Hole. Radiohole has been seen at PS122, The Kitchen, The Performing Garage, Lincoln Center, La MaMa, and in over 20 cities around the world. Radiohole has taught at Stanford University, NYU, St. Olaf College, and Antioch College. In 2017 Radiohole developed a piece with the graduating class of Norway’s National Theater Academy that premiered at the National Theater in Oslo. Radiohole received a Creative Capital Award for its performance FLUKE. Other recognition includes a Bessie Nomination, Spalding Gray Award, and numerous residencies.
