Mission Statement
Big Oak Wolf Sanctuary is a Faith Based Wolf Rescue and Sanctuary for captive born and owned wolves that were either neglected/abused by their owners, or given up by people who were no longer able to care for them.
About This Cause
Big Oak Wolf Sanctuary is a "true" wolf sanctuary in that we do not exhibit the rescued wolves or subject them to the health destroying life of enduring public exhibition, i.e., public tours for a fee. Due to the Twilight and Game of Thrones TV Shows, combined with private owners and breeders promoting wolf ownership on Facebook, the problem of people buying wolves and high-content wolf dogs has gotten exponentially worse, just in the past few years. There are thousands of these animals needing to be rescued each year, yet there are not enough sanctuaries to handle these astonishing numbers. Most are euthanized while many others are passed off to other unqualified people, where they endure horrific lives in small cages, or are chained to trees where they spend their entire lives. In order to accommodate the increasing number of these animals needing rescue and sanctuary each year, Big Oak Wolf Sanctuary will need additional support.
