The United Way of Northwest Connecticut is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is dedicated to improving the lives of people in Northwest Connecticut.

About This Cause

The United Way of Northwest Connecticut currently supports 24 member agencies: American Red Cross, Boy Scouts of America, Canaan Child Care Center, Catholic Charities, Community Health & Wellness Center of Greater Torrington, Connecticut Legal Services, Cornwall Child Center, Falls Village Day Care Center, Family Strides, FISH of Northwestern Connecticut, Geer Adult Day Center, Girl Scouts of Connecticut, 2-1-1 Infoline, LARC, McCall Foundation, Community Mental Health Affiliates, Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters, Pleasant Valley Children's Center, Salvation Army Winsted Service Center, Susan B. Anthony Project, USO of Metropolitan New York, Visiting Nurse Services of Connecticut, Winsted Area Child Care Center, and the YMCA of Northwestern Connecticut. These agencies provide services to over 42,000 annually in the towns of Bantam, Barkhamsted, Canaan (Falls Village), Colebrook, Cornwall, Goshen, Harwinton, Lakeville, Litchfield, New Hartford, Norfolk. North Canaan, Salisbury, Sharon, Torrington, West Hartland, and Winsted. The United Way is also committed to helping citizens through community impact projects such as Back To School Clothes for Kids, Food For Your Neighbors, Day of Caring, Warm The Children, the Million Mentors Challenge, Literacy programs, VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance), Buckets of Love (a project to help the victims of the 2017 Hurricanes) and the Women's Leadership Initiative.
