Mission Statement
The Community Chest of Port Washington is a nonprofit organization established over 70 years ago to raise funds for distribution to local charities dedicated to improving the lives of Port Washington residents.
About This Cause
Who are We? The Community Chest is a safety net for Port Washington residents. We raise money for local programs providing vital services for our neighbors in need Who Do we Help? Approximately one in four Port Washington residents directly benefits from the services provide by Community Chest supported organizations. Why Give through the Community Chest? 1. We make it our business to know what the local needs are and who needs help. 2. we review the programs, make grants and write checks to selected nonprofit organizations. 3. we review the financial statements and tax returns; interview the directors and make site visits. We do all this so you don't have to. How do we Reach our Goal? Donations from direct mail solicitations provide the largest funding to the campaign; sponsorships and donations for our events add the rest. Where do Donations Go? Donations stay in Port--providing services for 8,000 residents. Donations change lives.
