Mission Statement

Long Island Crisis Center, a suicide prevention and crisis intervention agency, provides 24/7, free, high quality, confidential and non-judgmental services and programs to support and empower Long Islanders at critical times in their lives.

About This Cause

Long Island Crisis Center provides a 24/7 hotline (516-679-1111) and chatline (chatlive.li) for "any one, any time, any problem." Additionally, it has the following programs and initiatives: Pride for Youth (PFY), a direct services division that provides counseling, case management, supportive social groups, sexual health education, HIV testing & prevention services, community education & professional development, etc. for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBTQ+) individuals and allies; Saving Our Long Island Veterans Initiative that provides counseling, support and resources specific to the needs of veterans and their families; Building Healthy Lives Through Education delivers workshops on-site in middle and high schools that address today's mental and emotional health issues affecting our students (i.e., suicide prevention, cyber bullying, self-injury); Young Latinas: Girls at Risk Initiative that addresses the rising number of suicides among young latinas ages 12 - 18 through school, family and community awareness.
