Mission Statement

CHiPS serves hot, healthy meals to the hungry and homeless in our soup kitchen, and provides transitional housing and support services to homeless young mothers and their infants.

About This Cause

CHiPS has been dedicated to helping the poor, the hungry, and the homeless since 1971. Our kitchen serves more than 400 meals daily and is staffed by caring and dedicated volunteers offering breakfast, hot lunch, emergency pantry bags, and seasonal clothes. CHiPS is a warm, friendly environment where, with the support of our neighbors and local businesses, we are able to serve nutritious meals made with fresh ingredients that are often organic. Many of our guests rely on our kitchen for meals every day. Our Frances Residence provides furnished apartments for up to one year to nine young women who are in their third trimester of pregnancy or have just given birth. Here, the mothers develop critical life skills while working to secure permanent housing in an environment that is safe and supportive for them and their infants. Weekly workshops for the mothers, led by highly qualified volunteers, focus on topics such as nutrition and wellness, early childhood development, resume writing, and resources to combat poverty. CHiPS serves those in need regardless of faith, race or ethnicity. Seventy-five percent of our work is done by volunteers, some of whom have been involved with our organization for decades!
