It's objective is to help provide assistance to Mosdos Boston in Israel, and its various programs and projects to fulfill these objectives.
About This Cause
Mosdos Boston was established in the 1940s by the legendary Bostoner Rebbe of Brookline, Massachusetts, Rabbi Levi Yitzchak Horowitz zt"l The Rebbe zt"l founded the institutions and framework for Judaism to flourish in Boston until today. By opening his home and heart to thousands of Jewish college and graduate students in the greater Boston area for Shabbos and festivals, and through helping Jewish patients and their families from all over the U.S. who would seek out Boston area healthcare, the Rebbe has personally helped and touched the lives of tens of thousands of Jewish people across the United States. In 1983, the Bostoner Rebbe settled in Israel to establish a Jewish community in Har Nof, Jerusalem, for hundreds of his followers to settle in Israel with him, which today numbers in the thousands. He did this with his son Mayer Alter Horowitz, the current Bostoner Rebbe, and the founder of American Friends of Mosdos Boston. For the past 30 years, Mosdos Boston in Israel has provided the framework for every aspect of Jewish life for this Bostoner community in Jerusalem such as, schools, synagogues, Mikvahs, Shabbos hospitality, and assistance for those struggling financially, socially and medically. After the Rebbe's passing five years ago, Mosdos Boston in Israel is now lead by the Rebbe's dedicated son, Rabbi Mayer Alter Horowitz, who carries on his father's legacy, his institutions and social programs. Aside from financially supporting elementary schools, high school and college age Jewish education institutions in Israel. American Friends of Mosdos Boston also funds lecturers on various Jewish Education topics in schools in Israel, the United States and around the world. In addition, AFMB helps produces books and publications on a variety of Jewish Education topics, which it distributes via email, direct-to-consumer and through Jewish bookstores Additionally, American Friends of Mosdos Boston has begun to bring Jewish Education into the digital age by developing tutorial videos on a variety of Jewish Education subjects in a unique format, which provides the source text on the screen and has a voiceover translations and commentary of the text, as the viewer is able to follow along word for word. This growing video library is an addition to our audio library of classes and lectures, available without cost to listen to or download on the Internet. As Jewish Education is the most important component to ensure the continuity of the future of the Jewish People, we welcome and charitable contributions in order to further our various education projects and programs, and to continue to bring Jewish education to Hebrew and English speaking Jews of all ages, both in Israel and around the world.
