Mission Statement

To provide music education and professional-quality performance opportunities that develop self-esteem, depth of character and advanced music skills in boys ages 5 to 18 and girls ages 11 to 18.

About This Cause

Portland Choirs is a 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Performing Arts and Music Education organization that serves children ages 6 to 18. Students come from Oregon's Portland-metro area for a concert season spanning September through May. Portland Choirs is governed by a volunteer board of directors and serves as a host organization for Portland Boychoir and Ovation Show Choir. Portland Boychoir is unique as the only all-boy choir in the Portland-metropolitan area and is the only community-based youth handbell choir in the Pacific Northwest. It provides a choral setting where boys’ identity, personality, and self-esteem are fostered by musical excellence. On a social level, they learn how to interact with other boys in an empowering way. Ovation Show Choir is a dynamic and versatile vocal ensemble made up of high-school age performers. Audiences hear a broad range of music each season, including pop, rock, soul, folk, and broadway. Singers train in vocal production, harmonization, ensemble technique, and stage presence with an emphasis on solo opportunities.
