Mission Statement

First established in the 1930s, ACA has developed as a publishing administrator for American concert music, representing composers and estates through several generations of creative work. With a curated catalog of over 14,000 works, ACA seeks to preserve historical works, introduce new works, and develop innovative ways to increase performance opportunities and public engagement with a unique catalog of American music. What ACA offers to performers, researchers, educators, and advocates of new American music is a diverse catalog with historical continuity and a mission dedicated to keeping the full collection available in perpetuity.

About This Cause

ACA, founded by Aaron Copland and his associates, has been collecting and preserving music scores by American composers since the 1930s. Current services for composers, estates, and performing artists include maintaining public access to the full collection for current uses and also for future generations. The catalog represents a large and continuous view of American concert music history since 1900. It is used by researchers, arts advocates and educators as well as performers, orchestras, libraries, and composers.
