About This Cause
The United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) works in more than 190 countries and territories to put children first. UNICEF has helped save more children’s lives than any other humanitarian organization, by providing health care and immunizations, clean water and sanitation, nutrition, education, emergency relief and more. UNICEF USA supports UNICEF's work through fundraising, advocacy and education in the United States. Together, we are working toward the day when no children die from preventable causes and every child has a safe and healthy childhood. Support UNICEF in Response to Disruptions in U.S. Foreign Aid UNICEF remains determined to deliver lifesaving support to children as we have for more than 75 years. As we work through the implications of the recent disruptions in foreign aid, there is an urgent need for flexible funding to address gaps in lifesaving programs for children. The United States Government has been an important and generous donor throughout our history, their generosity has enabled us to save millions of lives and help children all over the world fulfill their potential. UNICEF works to help children everywhere survive and thrive. The U.S. Government has been a crucial partner in supporting UNICEF's work to deliver results for children. But now, the widespread funding cuts could impact millions of children in need of lifesaving vaccines and those who are experiencing severe acute malnutrition globally. These cuts come alongside the loss of other programs that save millions of lives across the globe, protecting people everywhere from the spread of polio and other infectious diseases. UNICEF’s polio eradication efforts have been vital in preventing the disease from crossing borders and escalating into world health crises – including in the U.S. Each year, UNICEF helps vaccinate more than 400 million children, annually procuring and distributing over 1 billion polio vaccines alone. This monumental effort has changed lives and helped children avoid preventable deaths. UNICEF is also a global leader in fighting malnutrition, procuring 80 percent of the world's ready-to-use therapeutic food for children, including lifesaving products from American farmers. At this moment, and as the situation continues to evolve, we urgently need your support more than ever to help UNICEF continue to meet the critical needs of children. Your support now allows all of UNICEF’s work to continue and helps protect decades of progress.
