Mission Statement
TheaterWorksUSA exists to create exceptional, transformative theatrical experiences that are accessible to young and family audiences in diverse communities throughout New York City and North America.
About This Cause
TheaterWorksUSA has led the Theater for Young and Family Audiences movement in New York City and across North America for over half a century. TWUSA believes that access to art—and theater, in particular—is vital. Since 1967, the 501(c)3 not-for-profit has captured the imaginations of 100 million new and veteran theatergoers with an award- winning repertoire of over 140 original plays and musicals. At TheaterWorksUSA we believe that access to art – and theater in particular – is vital for our youth. Our programming is designed to not only address the disproportionate accessibility of art for young people across the country, but also to give rising generations a reason to look up and explore with optimism the full potential of their personal and communal identities. We achieve this geographically, by bringing our productions to 440 cities throughout the nation; thematically, by creating shows that are engaging and relevant for our young audiences; and financially, by keeping ticket prices affordable and distributing 30,000 free and subsidized tickets every year.
