With a rich legacy of service established by our founder Clara McBride Hale, Hale House delivers child-centered, family-focused programs that are responsive to the unique circumstances of each family we serve and the evolving social needs within our community and beyond. Our current initiatives include a state of the art learning center for children ages six weeks to five years and a supportive transitional housing program for single parent families.
About This Cause
Since its inception in 1969 by Mother Clara Hale, Hale House has continued the tradition of serving children and families in need through distinctive and innovative programs. Delivering child-centered, family-focused programs that are responsive to the unique circumstances of each family we serve is the core of our work. We provide love, care, and understanding—unconditionally—to children and families, as well as a safe, nurturing environment and an opportunity for a better future. Our current initiatives include an early childhood learning center and a supportive transitional housing program. The Mother Hale Learning Center (MHLC) provides full and part time care to approximately 45 children ages six weeks to five years. Our goal is to have an ethnically and economically diverse student population, which we believe enriches the learning environment. By offering discounts to half of the families enrolled, economically disadvantaged children have access to high quality childcare that otherwise may not be readily available to them. Our research-based curriculum addresses each child’s development in all areas including physical, social, emotional and cognitive. Providing a healthy balance of structured, skills-building group activities and independent exploration, each child is prepared for success in Kindergarten and beyond. The Hale House Supportive Transitional Housing Program provides a temporary home for 19 single-parent homeless families. At any given time, there are over 50 children in this program, from infants to teenagers. While in our program, families are assisted by our case management staff, which help them secure permanent housing and achieve self-sufficiency. Our goal is to enable families to remain intact, live safely in a good neighborhood, attend school, find employment, and otherwise stabilize their lives.
