Mission Statement
The Acting Company (TAC) develops young actors and builds an audience for the theater through its national touring productions and education programs.
About This Cause
Founded in 1972 by John Houseman and Margot Harley with members of the first graduating class of The Juilliard School’s Drama Division, TAC has produced 149 plays on tour in 48 states and 10 countries, and on and off Broadway for over 4 million audience members. For its dedication to touring TAC received a special Tony Honoree in 2003. TAC has produced and commissioned over a dozen new plays by notable writers such as John Guare, Tony Kushner, Lynn Nottage, Beth Henley, Marcus Gardley, Maria Irene Fornes, Meg Miroshnik, and Rebecca Gilman.
