Mission Statement

The Children's Museum of Manhattan (CMOM) was founded in 1973, by educators and artists who wanted to bring the learning power of the arts to New York City students. Today, CMOM focuses on addressing the ever-evolving needs of families through the development of onsite educational exhibitions and programs, as well as presenting outreach programs within the community.

About This Cause

The mission of the Museum is to inspire children and their families to learn about themselves and the culturally diverse world in which they live, through a unique environment of interactive exhibitions and programs. CMOM focuses on four priority areas to impact children in ways that will last a lifetime: early childhood education prepares children for success in school; creativity in the arts and sciences inspires creative and analytical thinking skills for lifelong learning; healthy lifestyles programs provide a blueprint for a family's physical, emotional and environmental well-being; and exploration of world cultures gives children awareness, understanding and context for the diverse society in which we all live.
