Mission Statement
LSA Family Health Service, founded by the Little Sisters of the Assumption, strengthens and empowers vulnerable families and children by meeting their basic needs for food, healthcare, education and a safe home, in the belief that affirming families in their own dignity improves the entire community.
About This Cause
LSA services meet the most fundamental needs of families: food, clothing, healthcare, and a safe home. What makes our service model unique is our home-visiting component in tandem with services at our welcoming building on East 115th Street. We provide the immediate care which vulnerable families need in the short term, and a nurturing community that fosters health, strength, and resilience in the long term. Our core programs focus on: - Advocacy for families needing assistance with housing, food, legal aid, or any short-term crisis; - Early childhood development, parenting, tutoring, and mentoring; - Family health issues, like asthma, diabetes, nutrition, and medical emergencies; - Family support for mental health, domestic violence, substance abuse and keeping children out of foster care; - Nursing care for mothers, infants and young children.
