Mission Statement
The West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, Inc. (WSFSSH) develops, manages, and provides safe and affordable housing for low-income persons, especially those who are older, have experienced homelessness and who live with mental illness. Supportive services are provided to enhance the independence and dignity of every resident. As an organization, our buildings and programs support the development and sustainability of healthy neighborhoods.
About This Cause
Founded in 1976, the West Side Federation for Senior and Supportive Housing, Inc. (WSFSSH) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that provides affordable housing, on-site management, and supportive services primarily to low-income senior households, including those who are frail, have experienced homelessness, and/or are living with serious mental illness and/or physically disabling conditions. WSFSSH employs over 400 staff, the majority of whom are front line employees in our buildings: social workers; personal care aides; medication managers; and front desk, security, and maintenance staff. AFFORDABLE HOUSING: WSFSSH owns and manages 28 permanently affordable residential buildings with over 2,100 units across Chelsea, the Upper West Side, Harlem, and the Bronx. Three additional projects with 500+ units are in the development pipeline, of which nearly half will be completed and occupied in early 2021. SUPPORTIVE SERVICES: WSFSSH provides on-site social services that allow tenants to thrive within a community environment. Examples of the services provided to residents include: case management, health care and entitlements coordination, crisis intervention, counseling, medication management, money management, personal care assistance, recreational activities, nutrition services, and meal services. COMMUNITY FACILITIES: WSFSSH supports thousands more low income individuals both by directly operating and by partnering with other providers to co-locate community-oriented facilities, such as senior centers, Federally Qualified Health Clinics (FQHC), and urgent care centers within our residential buildings.
