Mission Statement

The Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation, established in 1979, provides a resource for the extant choreography and technique of Isadora Duncan for dancers, performers, arts students and historians, educators, dance enthusiasts and the general public. The Foundation expands public awareness and understanding of Isadora Duncan as a world-famous performer and choreographer, innovator, feminist, educator, author and philosopher.

About This Cause

Under the vision of artistic Director of Lori Belilove, the Isadora Duncan Dance Foundation extends Duncan’s work to future generations through revitalized performances of her extant repertory, offer educational and community outreach programs for all age groups and technical abilities, create new works and programs inspired by her technical style and philosophy, and cultivate contemporary research through its special collections of rare archival materials. Activities include: Performing evening length programs of Isadora Duncan's choreographies as staged by Artistic Director Lori Belilove for public viewing both internationally and locally, including our self-produced New York Seasons. Teaching Duncan's technique and repertory through Intensives, Workshops, classes at local NYC studios, Arts-In-Education programs, and residencies nationally and abroad. Maintaining Archives of its special collection of rare archival materials, , and works of art to cultivate and stimulate contemporary research through its special collections of rare archival materials . Creating new choreographies based upon Duncan's dance technique, and the production of film, video and multi-media projects focused on and emanating from Duncan's life and work.
