Mission Statement

Saving horses and saving lives since 1983, the TRF works to save thoroughbred racehorses from possible abuse, neglect and slaughter. Through their Second Chances programs and satellite farms, the TRF does just that with the help of our generous donors like you.

About This Cause

The mission of the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation is to end the needless abuse and slaughter of Thoroughbred racehorses by – Providing humane, viable rescue programs, including permanent retirement and private adoption, for Thoroughbreds at the end of their competitive careers. Raising awareness within the racing industry and amount those associated with the industry of the humane alternatives represented by TRF. Offering new careers to able-bodied former campaigners through rehabilitation and retraining, leading to placement in qualified handicapped and other therapeutic riding programs. Forging partnerships with like-minded service organizations to increase public involvement and create expanded educational, training and recreational career options for TRF retirees. Creating opportunities for our veteran equine athletes to contribute to the reclamation of human lives as part of groundbreaking TRF vocational training programs for juvenile and adult offenders.
