Sprout is a nonprofit organization offering innovative programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities since 1979.
About This Cause
Sprout has been opening new worlds to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities for over 35 years. We offer a year-round supportive travel program to destinations across the United States and abroad as well as a Day & Evening Program of cultural and social activities around New York City. In 2003, we started the Sprout Film Festival to showcase the best in film from around the world, featuring the lives and creative talents of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD). We now also have a film distribution site, Sproutflix, an online platform exclusively for films that spotlight honest, inspiring, artistic portrayals of people with I/DD. We believe film can be a powerful tool for social change. All of Sprout's programming is focused on inclusion for a diverse community which has otherwise been marginalized in society and rendered invisible in the media. We strive toward making the invisible visible.
