Mission Statement
PACT's (formerly known as ECPAT-USA) mission is to protect every child’s right to grow up free from the threat of sexual exploitation and trafficking. Our Vision is a world in which no child is bought, sold or used for sex.
About This Cause
PACT (formerly known as ECPAT-USA) is the leading policy organization in the United States seeking to end the commercial sexual exploitation of children. Nearly 30 years ago, ECPAT-USA became the first U.S.-based nonprofit to work on this issue. PACT is a member of ECPAT International, a network of organizations in over 100 countries working together toward one common mission: to eliminate the sexual exploitation of children. We do this through programs focused on youth education, private sector engagement, legislative advocacy, and community awareness. PACT’s Programs (To learn more about our programs, please visit our website at https://www.wearepact.org/). Youth Education: PACT’s Youth Against Child Trafficking (Y-ACT) program empowers students to take the lead by educating them to be the foremost anti-trafficking advocates in their communities. Students learn about issues of trafficking in the United States, internet safety, building healthy relationships (both romantic and platonic), and creating communities. PACT also offers free workshops and safety guides for parents and guardians focused on how to keep children safe from online exploitation. Private Sector Engagement: PACT partners with private sector leaders to help companies implement programs and policies that comprehensively address child trafficking and reduce the channels in which traffickers operate. PACT provides free training on how to identify and respond to trafficking and support in the implementation of The Tourism Child-Protection Code of Conduct (The Code), a multi-stakeholder initiative with the mission to provide awareness, tools, and support to the hospitality industry in order to prevent sexual exploitation of children. Legislative Advocacy: PACT is at the forefront of the fight for legislation that will protect children who are commercially sexually exploited. We work with federal legislators and policy makers to improve the nation’s ability to prevent child exploitation and to respond when children are identified as victims of trafficking and provide guidance, policy recommendations, and advocacy support to organizations in states across the country to improve the legal and systemic response to exploitation. Community Education: Preventing child trafficking and sexual exploitation begins with community education and engagement. PACT leads programs, events, panels, and initiatives that inform communities about child sex trafficking and exploitation. We conduct research and publish reports that raise awareness about this serious problem and that form the basis for our advocacy campaigns.
