About This Cause

When actress Teri Black broke her leg, she couldn't even audition for "The Man Who Came to Dinner." To keep her creative juices flowing, she began readings of plays in her apartment and Break A Leg Productions was born. We believe in theatre as an invaluable tool illuminating what all people, no matter one’s origin, life experience, spiritual, sexual or cultural identification, have in common. Through humor, historical drama, science and social criticism, BAL aims to bridge the gap that separates people by enabling audiences to recognize and even laugh at the obstacles that divide them. BAL offers an ever expanding variety of programs including: “Delicious Comedy”, "Unexplored Territory" (new work) and "Historically Speaking" (based on actual events/people) reading series. In addition, BAL presents both readings and full productions of science themed plays as part of our "The Art Of Science" series. BAL encourages "non-traditional" casting.
