About This Cause

The Haitian American Alliance of NY (HAA) was established in NYC in 1996; it is a non-profit volunteer organization. We are dedicated to pursue constructive measures for building a more viable Constituency. Funding will address issues related to mental health, healthcare disparities, education and the youth. HAA established, the first Haitian American Scholarship program for Haitian American students heading to college (The Haitian American Alliance Scholarship). We also advocate for the alleviation of disparity concerns in education and health. In response to the Corona Virus pandemic, which to date has had devastating impact, disproportionately in minority communities; HAA took the lead to coordinate the efforts of professionals from multiple disciplines and several community based organizations, including local churches, under a unifying umbrella to form the Haitian American Alliance COVID 19 Task Force, in order to address critical issues of concerns, often times exacerbated by systemic racism , namely: medical, psychological and social. In addition to our efforts in the United States, HAA has organized several medical and mental health missions to Haiti.
