Mission Statement
The Fund for Park Avenue is dedicated to the maintenance and beautification of the Park Avenue malls from 54th - 86th Streets in New York City. This is accomplished through contributions received from the buildings facing Park Avenue, individuals and corporations residing on the avenue as well as other organizations and foundations. The Fund is also responsible for raising funds and managing the annual Park Avenue Tree Lighting from 54th - 96th Street. Lighting a tree on Park Avenue first took place in 1945 to honor those who had lost their lives in WWII but has grown to more than 100 trees which are installed on the malls and lit from early December to mid-January from 54th to 96th Streets to honor those who have lost their lives in all our nation's wars.
About This Cause
The Fund for Park Avenue plants seasonal flowers on the Park Avenue malls from 54th to 86th Streets which include spring tulips, summer begonias and fall mums. Additionally, The Fund maintains the malls with regular mowing, pruning, weeding and litter control throughout the year. During the winter, fir trees are installed and lit on the malls from 54th to 96th streets each year from early December to mid-January. At various times the malls are also the site of temporary outdoor sculpture exhibits. Exhibitions are presented by The Sculpture Committee of The Fund for Park Avenue and NYC Parks’ Art in the Parks Program in collaboration with arts organizations and artists.
