Wingspan Arts provides arts education programs in the areas of theatre, music, dance, film, and the visual arts to students in the New York City metro area. Our mission is to engage diverse groups, especially young audiences, with a wide range of performing, visual, media, and literary arts.

Wingspan Arts provides arts education programs in the areas of theatre, music, dance, film, and the visual arts to students in the New York City metro area. Our mission is to engage diverse groups, especially young audiences, with a wide range of performing, visual, media, and literary arts. We accomplish this by developing professional artist-educators who are inspired by the work they do, and who have a unique gift for sharing their inspiration with students. Our ethnically-diverse teaching artists share their expertise and passion for the arts with young people, many of whom are from low-income neighborhoods and have had little or no previous training in the arts. Young people gain a better understanding of a complicated, changing world as they study, learn to perform, and express their feelings through the arts. This helps fulfill our mission of connecting students to the arts, and the arts to life. Founded in 2001 in response to the lack of arts instruction in public schools, Wingspan Arts began programming in one classroom, and has expanded to more than 30 In-School and Afterschool programs in 26 schools in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. Our growth is a result of enthusiastic requests from teachers, principals, and the New York City Department of Education. We provide a direct experience in the arts to over 5,000 children each year and employ over 250 teaching artists who have been recognized for their professional achievements. Summer Theatre Conservatory, the jewel of our programs, now enters its 16th year. Conservatory provides pre-professional training in theatre to 75 6th-12th grade students. The tuition-free program most fully exemplifies our mission by concentrating on the unique goals and skills of our students through a combination of theory, practice and the focused attention of professional teaching artists.
