Mission Statement
Pintler Pets is a private non-profit 501 (c) 3 humane society in Anaconda, MT. We receive no governmental funding and exist solely on private donations, fundraisers, grants, and memorials. We opened our doors in 2003.
About This Cause
Pintler Pets only accepts dogs, puppies, cats, kittens and maybe a few rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, etc. We are unable to take any large animals. Pintler Pets believes all animals deserve a chance at their forever home. We have been taking dogs and some cats from the Blackfeet Indian Reservation in Browning, MT since 2007. Pintler Pets has literally rescued several thousand dogs from Browning. Most of the dogs are emaciated, have mange or other skin conditions and have numerous medical issues - broken limbs, many have been run over, they have been abused and neglected, and many come to us pregnant. We love the rez dogs! They are so grateful for being rescued and make the best pets. Pintler Pets also receives animals from our local animal control if their owner does not claim them. Pintler Pets accepts dogs & cats from our local community and surrounding area. We have also taken in animals from Out of State kill facilities. Pintler Pets will take in any animal in need. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, fully vaccinated, & microchipped prior to leaving our facility. We are very thorough in our adoption process. We do not do "on the spot adoptions." Pintler Pets likes to check out our prospective adopters - we call veterinarians, landlords, references, do drive-byes and/or check out their houses and yards on the Internet and have even called county authorities if we question ownership of their property. Pintler Pets runs on a shoe string budget. Our vet bills are astronomical especially with the reservation dogs. Pintler Pets would not be able to keep our doors open without the kindness and generosity of all the good people out there. We are always trying to improve our facility to make the surroundings more pleasant and comfortable for our animals. We have 8 very large outside play areas for our dogs and a special play area for puppies only. Our cats have 2 very large outside cat houses so that they can go outside and enjoy the fresh air and sunshine. We have very few cats in kennels. They are free to roam cat side and they lay on recliners, couches, and even a child's bed. We also have several cat trees for them to climb. The walls are decorated with pictures which make it a very homey atmosphere. We hope to remodel dog room 1 this summer - tearing our the existing walls and putting up new walls with FRP so that they can be disinfected not to mention cheery and bright. Our facility was built in the 1970's by the Anaconda Company and was not built for a humane society so it has been a work in progress since we opened our doors in 2003. Pintler Pets is run by a handful of volunteers who take their job very seriously.
