AFS is an international, voluntary, non-governmental, nonprofit organization that provides intercultural learning opportunities to help people develop the knowledge, skills and understanding needed to create a more just and peaceful world.

About This Cause

AFS Intercultural Programs was founded in 1914 as the American Field Service, a volunteer ambulance corps that bravely served in both World Wars. In 1946, AFS was transformed into an international high school student exchange program. Today, AFS offers a variety of study abroad programs and partners with schools, educators, governments, business, communities and NGOs to achieve our mission.
