Mission Statement
The mission ofKolel Chibas Jerusalem Rabbi Meyer Baal Haness Charity is to support indigent families in Israel. This support accomplishes a twofold purpose: (1) By helping sustain needy families and alleviating some of their burdens, the organization allows these families to function in a normal manner, and the children in these families grow up to be functional, healthy and productive adults. (2) By providing assistance to these families, we are also lifting the burden from the Israeli government, which might be otherwise compelled to furnish families additional aid. Our assistance thus enables the country to preserve its financial resources. The assistance we provide takes a number of forms: (1) The distribution of quarterly stipends to eligible families. Last year these disbursements totaled over $3,400,000.00, to more that 18,000 individuals. (2) Help with extraordinary expenses, such as weddings, medical expenses, post natal care etc. as well as special stipends before major holidays to help defray the associated costs. During the previous year, these payments exceeded $950,000.00 (3) Our 3 dental clinics throughout Israel serving thousands of people annually, subsidizes 2/3 of the cost of their clients' dental care, at a cost of over $500,000.00 a year (4) Our Interest Free Loan Fund enables thousands of families to borrow substantial sums of money to help them cope with major expense such as marrying off children, doctor bills, loss of jobs etc. at very easy terms. The total amount borrowed last year exceeded $480,000.00 Our Total Budget exceeds $5,330,000.00
