Mission Statement
CHC: Creating Healthier Communities, formerly Community Health Charities, is a catalyst for good health, bringing communities, nonprofits, and businesses together around a shared commitment to better health and wellbeing. Together with partners, CHC works to address the barriers to good health and equity and create resilient communities where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. CHC represents thousands of high-impact nonprofits, connecting them with resources from our corporate, foundation and government partners to power transformative change.
About This Cause
CHC: Creating Healthier Communities brings nonprofits, businesses and communities together around a shared commitment to better health and wellbeing. For more than 65 years, CHC has worked together with partners to address the barriers to good health and equity and create resilient communities where everyone can thrive. Health equity is going to take all of us—organizations, businesses, and individuals—working together in communities across the country. CHC’s role is to enhance the capacity of nonprofit organizations, connect and convene diverse stakeholders, and harness collective resources and programs to activate collaborations that address root causes and improve the health of our communities. HEALTH EQUITY PARTNERSHIPS: • Program development and strategic community alliances to tackle root causes and systemic issues, focusing on upstream solutions • Community health equity trends assessment and planning, including databases and training, applying our unique health equity lens • Equity education, cultural humility training, policy development and customized consultation • Convenings, events, and webinars addressing relevant issues with key thought leaders and subject matter experts NONPROFIT SUPPORT: • Capacity building, with highly specialized expertise tailored to meet a range of organizational development needs • Workplace giving and other giving opportunities with companies of all sizes, the federal government, local governments, universities, and more • Responsive grantmaking, investing in communities to help meet existing and emerging needs • Consolidated backend services like extensive nonprofit vetting, payments and processing, power of attorney and more • Sector transformation and change management consulting to help nonprofit organizations and federations adapt through transitions and cultural shifts COMPANY PROGRAMS: •Customized volunteer programs with virtual and onsite volunteer opportunities, plus an online platform to make finding opportunities easy • Year-round payroll giving or one-time giving for campaigns, disasters or holidays; peer-to-peer giving; custom and signature causes and health equity funds • Employee engagement programs, including a year-round employee engagement guide, health and wellness guide, curated work Breaks with a Purpose, plus a library of 50+ expert resources and tools • Charitable event ticketing and auctions • Strategic partnerships, sponsorships, cause marketing, and more
